We (brother and sister Daniel and Rebecca Harvey) founded Little Cubs Academy in the belief that because we have young children ourselves, it places us in a privileged position to understand what other parents are looking for when choosing the right nursery and pre-school for their own children.
As well as sharing a passion for child care and education, what also drives us is working daily with our incredibly dedicated staffing team to provide children with the right environments where they can develop and grow as individuals, feel safe, loved, nurtured and go on to explore the world.
We always had the vision of creating nurseries in Greenwich and nurseries in Forest Hill that are a hub, where learning is not just for children, but also their parents, creating a supportive and informative community for everyone.
We believe that all staff members no matter what role they perform, are an important and vital part of each nursery and pre-school setting. We truly value that everything we do is a team effort, and we absolutely adore what we do.
We view our nursery in Greenwich and our nursery in Forest Hill staffing teams as both carers and educators, which is why we call them teachers. As far as we are concerned our Head Teachers and Deputies do so much more than just ‘manage’, they perform a vital role that entails not just teaching and caring for the children themselves, but also acting as role models, leading, guiding and training the staff, while heading up the education, care and safety of our settings.
We understand that children learn by watching others: as role models to your children, we make sure we promote respect, empathy, and compassion and work as a team to help every child feel valued and secure.
All of our staff are either fully qualified as early years teachers, or enrolled in apprenticeship schemes. Each of them will have gone through a rigorous recruitment procedure that involves both an interview and trial, as well as having to provide multiple references and a DBS certificate.
